We design and develop the leading satellite information and geographic information system (GIS) technology. These technologies enable organizations in both the public and private sectors to take advantage of their geographic data. Satellite informatics and technology is an important tool that helps shape the world around us.
GEOSAT collaborative, open, and dynamic environment allows associates to work together to guide a project along, giving them the opportunity to see an idea become a successful solution. We take our responsibilities as a corporation very seriously. Everyone’s contributions have a real impact not only on the next generation of GIS technology and services, but on society and the world, continually extending the power of geography. The diversity in our customers and our work results in thoroughly unique approaches to problem solving and is helping GEOSAT evolve its role to become a global company.
R&D, Community Support - GEOSAT is dedicated to helping the world become a better place through the use of satellite informatics and GIS technology. We make this a reality by reinvesting more than 15% of the company profits into research and development and by providing support at a national level through Education Programs.
We also provide a number of public service initiatives, community outreach, and volunteerism in the communities surrounding GEOSAT headquarters in Tainan, Taiwan. GEOSAT has chosen to support a few select organizations and charities in the local community, regularly donate trees and horticultural materials to local schools, and parks areas.
Furthermore, GEOSAT supports its employees with a comprehensive benefits program, tuition reimbursement, and a scholarship program and encourages its associates to make individual contributions of both their time and resources to the world around them.
Smart Business - satellite informatics and technology is a programming solution that links geographic information with descriptive information.
A digital map is no more difficult to use than a paper map. As on the paper map, there are dots or points that represent features such as cities; there are lines that represent features such as roads; and small areas that represent features such as lakes. All this information—where the point is located, how long the road is, and even how many square miles a lake occupies—is stored in digital format as a series of ones and zeros.
Think of this geographic data as layers of information underneath the computer screen. Each layer represents a particular theme, or feature of the map. One theme could be made up of all the roads in an area. Another theme could represent all the lakes in the same area. Yet another could represent all the cities.
These themes can be laid on top of one another, creating a stack of information about the same geographic area. They can be turned off and on, as if you were peeling a layer off the stack or placing it back on. You control the amount of information about an area that you want to see. GIS takes the information and connects it to a physical location somewhere on the surface of the earth. This can include information such as
Customer street addresses and postal codes
Store locations and customer product registration information of sales data
Locations of factories, distribution centers, and warehouses
The address, cross street, or geographic coordinates of equipment such as telephone poles and electric transformers
Routes for deliveries
These types of spatial data are already a part of GEOSAT data assets. Whether maintaining store revenues, equipment locations, customer data, or facilities information in a relational database, information describing where things are located can be used to add insight and make better decisions.
